Who are we?
US & Our HOME
Hello, I’m Richard Burrows. I am married to my best friend and life partner Diane. Together we love having ‘bucket list’ adventures with our two sons.
In April 2011, we lived in a static caravan and were excited to see the foundations of our self-build project being poured. Our family home took us 4 years to complete, and replaced a derelict farmhouse that had been in Diane’s family for over three generations. Our home was designed to the newly written 2010 building regulations, but efficient home technology in the UK was very much in its infancy.
THE FUTURE HOME
Advancements in technology, including how we heat and power our homes has moved on significantly. Lots of ideas that were cutting edge for us in 2011 are becoming very much the norm today.
The Efficient Home website, is about practical steps we can do right now to make our homes more efficient. These don’t have to be big ideas. Small everyday changes can end up saving big. We explore not only our own efficient home wins, but also what other people have done to bring efficiency to their homes.
